KIIT NSS Bureau Organized NSS Day-2018

The NSS Day was observed by the NSS Bureau, KIIT Deemed to be University at KSOM Auditorium, Campus-7 on 24th September 2018.

Sri M. Ramakrishnan, Regional Director, NSS Bureau, Odisha graced the event as Chief Guest. Advising the student volunteers, he said, “Life is a challenge and whoever face such challenge, will shine in life. Try to realize the dream of your parents and make the best use of your inner potential. Differences are there in the mind and attitude of an individual. Try to involve yourself in the service actively to comply the need of the society. Students should show the psychological balance to take the right decision. As in future you are going to lead the country, so try to shape your life”.

In his address, Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, VC, KIIT -DU said, “the journey of serving the society has been immersed with this university. You will reinvent, what will be the value of tomorrow. You need to look into the society intensely to see the complex problems in the society. The way of looking into the society has to be cultivated. You can contribute a solution for resolving a problem. In this context, I would like to invite the international students of KIIT  to participate in this service scheme. I wish KIIT will lead in the eastern India and become the flag bearer of NSS.

The person who won the hearts of NSS volunteers, students and faculties was none other than Madhusudan Das popularly called as “Madhubhai”. Through the motivational talk he delivered to the packed audience, he not only made the audience spellbound but also received a standing ovation  for his profound words.

He said that social transformation comes through self transformation. When you believe and think yourself as an ordinary, you will be eventually become an extraordinary. If you want to live, then live for others. Until and unless you adopt the right knowledge, action and aptitude, you can’t contribute for nation building. NSS teaches us for the development of the society at large as well as community and personality development. The motto of NSS is to make everyone champion.

Prof. Jayant Kumar Parida,  Director, Quality Assurance said that,  as we believe the country where do we live in, therefore we should come forward and make a motto regarding this.  Brand power has been replaced by Brain Power. You should make yourselves the torchbearer of the country to make it an advanced and developed nation.

At the outset, putting the welcome address, Prof.  Kajal Parasher, Program Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau said,  “we should work not only to get the award, as an award is just a motivation. You have to groom your successors. Besides, you have to make yourselves smart both mentally and physically. Then only you can think of the development of the nation.”

Dr. Susanta Tripathy, former Program Coordinator said that NSS Day is a showcase of elaborating our NSS Volunteers, i.e. how they have connected with the community and received smile from them. On this occasion, Ms. Jinia Kundu, Assistant  Professor, KIIT School of Law was felicitated by the guests on being selected as the State Level best Program Officer.

Ambassador of the European Union to India and Bhutan visits KIIT and KISS

His Excellency Tomasz Kozlowski, Ambassador of the European Union to India and Bhutan visited KIIT and KISS on 24th September, 2018. He became captivated in observing the exquisiteness of KISS.

The students of KISS are the real heroes. They embark on this challenging path of getting educated and Prof. Achyuta Samanta and his team have made it possible. They will be the change agents of the world. In Europe a lot of importance is given to Women Empowerment and Gender Equality and I feel proud to see the same at KISS and in Odisha.”

9th National Marketing Conclave held in KIIT

KIIT School of Management organized its 9th National Marketing Conclave on 22th September, 2018. The theme was ‘Future of Work – Implications on Marketing Processes and Strategies.’ The conclave was one of the four national level conventions which are annually organized by KIIT School of Management in the areas of Marketing, HR, Finance and Operations Management to bring industry closer to the academia. This year’s Marketing conclave provided students with an opportunity to interact with business leaders and policy makers for holistic learning. 12 workshops related to Marketing were also conducted as part of the conclave. The conclave was received enthusiastically by industry professionals, academia and students.

The conclave was inaugurated by Navonil Chatterjee, Joint President, Rediffusion and Sagar Daryani, Co-Founder and CEO, Wow Momos. Prof. Debasish Das, Director, KSOM set the context and spoke about how technology is revolutionising the way marketers are engaging with customers across different demographic segments. Mr. Navonil gave few marketing tips for the future – focussing on rational and real aspects of the products, importance of creating app platforms, product personalization and keeping marketing content and communication simple. Mr. Sagar spoke about his journey of creating Wow Momos. Drawing inspiration from the success story of Pizzas in India, he revolutionized the concept of momos in the Indian context. He spoke about converting adversities into opportunities.

The first panel discussion was on ‘Marketing to Gen Z.’ The panel consisted of Mahesh Shah, CEO, HomeTown at Future Retail; A. L. Jagannath, Senior Director, Dell-EMC Alliance at VMware; Jaytilak Majumdar, Head, Electronics and Consumer durables at Havells India; Spandan Mishra, Creative Producer, MX Player; Nilanjan Roy, Head, Cigna Global Health and Prachi Mohapatra, CMO, fbb. The panel concurred that the attention span of Gen Z is a few seconds and it is a challenge for marketers to capture their attention. Influencers are gaining more acceptance than celebrities as they are considered to be more authentic and trustworthy. Marketers in future have to be genuine in communicating the functionalities or the aspiration values of a brand and create appropriate touch-points. Technology would be the driver for future marketing strategy.

The second panel discussion was on the topic “End of Consumer Engagement or Rise of Customer Empowerment” consisted of Anirudh Patil, Director, McKinsey & Company; Debraj Tripathy, Ex-MD Mediacom South Asia; Shabir Momin, MD & CEO, Zenga TV; Vinay Chak, Director, 4MM; Manvendra Singh, CEO, Davidoff and Sohini Das, AVP Strategy, Leo Burnett. The customer is going to become more empowered in the future because of the increased usage of social media, opined the panellists. Brands can be sustained by being authentic in their communication.

If they would have come to this place(KISS), there was no need of searching a God Particle,” said the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Prof. Ganeshi Lal on the eve of the  1st Foundation Day of KISS Deemed to be University on 13th September, 2018.
