Overview of the exam:

JEE Main exam stands for  Joint Entrance Exam for the undergraduates and is a gateway for the student to pursue with engineering as their degree career so that  they can take admissions in B. Tech and B.Arch programs offered by 31 NITs, 23 IITs and 23 CFTIs. This is conducted by the National Testing Agency twice a year and is a compute mode test. One can apply for appearing the exam online only. There is a requirement of the personal details and documents while filling the application form. Valid details are to be given and the candidates have to upload the necessary documents like the photographs, signature etc. Candidates who want to fill the form  to appear the JEE exams this year have to get their form submitted within the period of 1st September 2018 to 30th September 2018. The exams would be conducted on the 8th of January 2019 in two shifts, morning shift is from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. For the second JEE Mains candidates need to download the form in 17th of December of 2018.

Eligibility criteria:

There are no criteria for age as it is merely removed by NTA. So the students can appear the exam without any age restrictions. The qualification requirements of the candidates are they must have passed out class 12 in the year 2017 or 2018 for pursuing with B.Tech. While on the other hand B.Arch. aspirants should be 10th pass outs or 10th pass outs with Mathematics. The nationality of the applicants has to be Indian. Students can also have centers in foreign and for that they require documents like Visa and passports to be submitted.

Examination fees:

The payment procedures are quite flexible and one can pay through net banking, credit card, debit card, bank challan and other.

Exam patterns and modes:

The pattern of the exam is objective and the exam can be given both online or offline. The major change is that NTA will be conducting the exams but till 2018 the exams were conducted by CBSE. The exams are going to be conducted twice a year i.e. in January as well as in April. The application fee has been reduced for students of different categories. There is no change in the pattern, syllabus, and mode of exams. The centers of the exams are increased to make it more convenient to conduct exams. The first paper will be held in two shifts. The process of the results has been altered to that of the normalization which means the percentile score will be normalized and then use for the preparation of the merit list.


The candidate aspiring to qualify JEE mains 2019 have to prepare and follow the syllabus prescribed for the exams. The syllabus for the physics, chemistry, and biology has gone through no alteration this year and merely similar to those of the 2018 exams. One can download the syllabus to know the details of the topics and the subtopics for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. It would be better for the candidates to go through the questions of the previous years to know about the patterns of the question and have a vivid idea of the way to appear it. There are fixed number of question from each chapters like 5 question from Modern physics, each 4 marks. 3 Questions from heat and thermodynamics, 3 from optics, 3 from current electricity, 3 from electrostatics, 2 from magnetics, 1 from the chapters like unit and vectors kinematics, laws of motion, work energy power, center of mass, rotation, gravitation, simple harmonic motion, solid  a fluids, Waves and EMI.

Cut off:

The cut-offs for the JEE Mains 2019 will be released after the exams are conducted. It is mostly expected to be released on  31st of January. The results are scheduled to be out on 30th of April in the year 2019. The score card validity is for one year after the declaration of the JEE main exam. Candidate can make the use of the score card to get admission in the college they desire for a year.

Exam Appearance:

The candidates are advised to carry a pen and a pencil for the test. It is heard that the test takers will provide the candidates with a pencil and a sheet to do rough papers. Smoking and eating are merely prohibited in the examination hall. The documents required to be taken into the hall are admit card, photo, photo ID, certificates. The things prohibited into the hall are watches, calculators, jewelry, bags, purses, cell phones etc. Students are not allowed to leave the hall without the permission of the Superintendent in the hall as well as Invigilators. The diabetic patient can be allowed with the eatables like sugar tablets and fruits and can also carry a transparent bottle of water.
