TANCET Exam: An Overview
TANCET or Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test is conducted by Anna University on behalf of the state government. The exam is meant for offering entrance opportunities to MBA, ME/MTech/MArch/MPlan. Several government, government aided and self-financing colleges are the participants of TANCET program. Those who appear and get the cut off marks are called for TANCET counselling to select the college of their choice.
Eligibility for the exam:
A recognized bachelor’s degree (minimum of three years) and 50% marks in aggregate is required. 45% for SC/ST category is the basic requirement. Appearing (those who have appeared in the last semester of the bachelor’s degree) students are also eligible. Professional graduates are also eligible.
Pattern of Exam:
This is a paper pen based examination. There would be total of 100 questions in Multiple Choice format and the maximum score will be 100 marks. The total duration given to solve the question paper is 2 hours. Each right answer is awarded one mark and each wrong answer will be negatively marked (1/3rd).
M.Tech question paper has three parts. Part-I and II are compulsory for all and in the part III candidates have to choose one section out of the 14 based on their specializations.
Part I and Part II contains 20 and 35 multiple choice questions respectively. Part II has 60 questions.
The question paper has 3 parts. The syllabus for entrance test is furnished in the form Annexure and the questions would be set at undergraduate level.
Part I: Engineering Mathematics
Part II: Basic Engineering and Science
Part III: Meant for different disciples
If you have studied and have thoroughly grasped the Physics and Mathematics syllabus of class XII you will have not much problem. It is advisable to do a lot of daily practice from the previous question papers so that you would be able to manage your time well during the exam.
