Details of JEE Main 2019:

The HRD ministry has announced the notification for prestigious JEE Main 2019. The exam is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), and the registration date for the exam has begun from September 1, 2018 on the official website of NTA. The first session of the examination would be conducted in online mode.

The JEE Main 2019 examination is intended for admission into BE/B.Tech and B.Arch courses in various institutions including NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, and IITs. The JEE Main application form would commence from September 1, 2018 with a closing date for the application process on September 30, 2018 and another round would commence from February 8, 2019, that would close on March 7, 2019.

The changes that have been introduced in JEE Main this time include the exclusion of pen and paper-based test option and complete transition of the examination to online mode. The JEE Main 2019 would be carried out in 8 sittings from January 6, 2019, to January 20, 2019, and from April 7, 2019, to April 21, 2019. This time there is no need for verification of 12th class roll number, and there would be no changes in the exam pattern or the format of the question paper.

Applicants have been given the privilege of booking their exam slots, and the training of candidates would be supported by establishing 3000 new training centers. The number of examination centers has been increased to 258 among which 10 centers would be located in foreign countries, and the remaining 248 centers would be in India. Another change introduced in JEE Main 2019 is the freedom for diabetic students to take transparent water bottles, sugar tablets and fruits to the exam center.

Are you eligible?

There are four primary eligibility conditions for candidates to appear for JEE Main 2019. The age limit for appearing the exam is that the candidate should be born on or after October 1, 1993, and the age limit is relaxed by five years for reserved categories. The qualification required for appearing is passing Class 12 after 2015 or appearing for the exam in 2018. The minimum qualifying marks required for admission in NITs, IITs, IIITs and CFTIs is 75% in aggregate and for reserved categories; it is 65% in aggregate. On the other hand, there is no minimum mark for appearing the qualifying examination of JEE Main 2019.

How to fill the form?

Before filling the form for JEE Main 2019 that can be accessed on the official website which is, it is essential to be aware of the mandatory requirements. If you are not from Assam, J&K, and Meghalaya, the registration process requires Aadhar Number or the Aadhar Enrolment Number in case of candidates who have not obtained the Aadhar Card after applying for it. The documents required for candidates of Assam, the J&K, and Meghalaya are valid bank account number, passport number, ration card number or any similar ID Proof issued by the government.

The application process for JEE Main 2019 could be accomplished through seven distinct steps which can be presented as follows.

  • Register on the official website with Aadhar number or relevant document
  • Fill out the Online application form with valid details
  • Verify your email ID and the mobile number provided in the form
  • Upload images such as candidate photograph and specimen signature as well as the specimen signature of parents or guardians
  • Complete the fee payment
  • Finalize the slot booking which is applied only for Computer Based Test
  • Get a Printout of the acknowledgment Page

The online payment of the application fee for JEE Main 2019 could be carried through credit or debit cards. Offline payments for the application fee could be made through e-challan that has to be deposited either at Canara Bank, Syndicate Bank or ICICI bank with the required amount of cash.

Exam Pattern

Exam Mode:The examination mode for Paper 1 will be both online and offline while in the case of Paper 2; it would be offline only.

No. of questions (Paper 1 & Paper 2): Paper 1 will have a total of 90 questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with 30 questions for each section. Paper 2 will have 82 questions in total. Paper 2 will also have three sections such as Aptitude Test, Mathematics and Drawing Test with 50, 30 and 2 questions respectively.

Type of questions:The type of questions in Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be objective and multiple-choice questions having four options. For the drawing test in Paper 2, the questions will be subjective.

Time Duration: The time duration for both the papers will be 3 hours.

Language: The question language will be English and Hindi except adding Gujarati for the candidates in Dadra, Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Nagar Haveli.

Marking Scheme: The marking scheme for both papers involves the addition of 4 marks for correct response and deduction of 1 mark for an incorrect response. For Paper 2, 35 marks will be awarded for each question in Drawing Test.

JEE Main 2019 Syllabus

The syllabus for Paper 1 of JEE Main 2019 would comprise of the Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry syllabus of CBSE class 11 and 12. The syllabus for Paper 2 in JEE Main 2019 would be primarily reflective of class 12 CBSE syllabus for Mathematics and would rely largely on aptitude and drawing.
